Job Description Summary The Kinesiology program serves approximately 360 majors in programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels: Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with concentrations in Health and Human Performance ( HHP ) and Athletic Training (AT). The Department is part of the new Cástulo de la Rocha College of Health and Community Well Being, which has a holistic vision for health that goes beyond today’s traditional model and is informed by data and the impact social determinants, health inequities, and cultural agility have on community and individual health. Through deep partnership with community health providers, non-profits, and others, we provide our students with meaningful clinical, internship, research, and other hands-on experiences critical to a quality education and student licensure requirements. The department is committed to teaching and scholarly excellence, values multicultural perspectives, fosters a collegial learning community for students and faculty, and actively strives to incorporate diversity and inclusivity into our work. We seek candidates whose teaching, research and service complement the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity and who understand the barriers faced by underrepresented minorities and first-generation college students. The University of La Verne invites applications for a faculty member with primary responsibility to the undergraduate Kinesiology program at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The appointment will begin with the 2024-25 academic year. Minimum Qualifications Earned doctorate (or projected completion by August 15, 2024) in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field with a specialization in exercise physiology, biomechanics, or both. A clear and active research agenda, including publications, presentations, and experience in grant writing or the potential for external funding. The ability to teach two or more of the following undergraduate courses: Exercise Physiology, Exercise Physiology Laboratory, Biomechanics, Exercise Testing & Prescription, and Research Methods. The ability to advise undergraduate Kinesiology majors. The ability to work collaboratively and independently. Preferred Qualifications University teaching experience as the instructor of record Multiple peer-reviewed publications in professional journals Grant funding Scholarship tied to Kinesiology or the University of La Verne’s College of Health and Community Well-Being in one or more of the following three areas: Health Determinants, Health Disparities, and Well-Being University service experience
