Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE Provides physical therapy services for Catalina
Island Health (formerly Catalina Island Medical Center) outpatient,
Long Term Care (LTC), and Swing/Rehab patients. This position is
primarily outpatient with light work flow as needed to the LTC and
swing/rehab unit. SUMMARY All employees are expected to perform
their duties as set forth here and in accordance with all policies
and procedures and Mission, Values, and Vision of Catalina Island
Health “CIH.” The person doing this job is responsible for a
variety of tasks that lead to a high level of customer satisfaction
with respect and dignity. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Evaluates patient
needs, establishes physical therapy treatment plans and goals for
each patient. Carries out prescribed treatments as ordered by the
physician. 2. Documents patient treatment and reports patient’s
progress to the prescribing physician. 3. Participates in patient
and family education. Participates in patient care conferences. 4.
Assists department manager in performing Quality Measures and
monitors department problems. 5. Responsible for observing
departmental policies and procedures. 6. Responsible for care of
the facility and equipment related to the PT Department 7.
Maintains professional standards regarding treatment procedures and
ethics. 8. Maintains the safety of property and patients under
treatment. 9. Assists department manager in assessing department
staffing needs. 10. Maintains all departmental records per
department policies. 11. Assists department manager in estimating
the needs of the department and ordering supplies and equipment
when needed. 12. Assist in Therapy Department new-hire training.
ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTIONS 1. Be compliant with organizational
policies and procedures and related departmental procedures. 2.
Follow all HIPAA regulations as outlined in the HIPAA Policy and
procedure manual. 3. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing
related results as needed. 4. Excellent customer service skills for
both inter and intra department. 5. Other duties as assigned by the
physicians and supervisor. 6. Other general administrative duties
and projects as assigned. PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge,

principles and practice. 2. Ability to: Establish effective
relations with physicians, patients and their families, fellow

CONDITIONS Work is performed in a Critical Access/Rural Health
Clinic environment. It involves frequent contact with patients,
physicians, and other CIH staff. The employee could be exposed to
communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and
other conditions that are common to the clinical environment.
Safety policies and good health practices are expected to be
understood and observed. Physical/Mental Demands 1. Work closely
with patients in all age categories. Patients are treated with care
and compassion and with special regard for age-specific
considerations. 2. Varied activities including standing, walking,
reaching, bending, lifting. Requires full range of body motion
including lifting, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand
coordination. 3. Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to
50 pounds. 4. Manual dexterity to operate a computer, telephone,
copier, fax, and other such office equipment and medical equipment,
as necessary. 5. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range. 6.
Ability to work in stressful situations. 7. Fast and continuous
work pace with variable workload. 8. Interactions are subject to
many interruptions from multiple calls and inquiries and
potentially emotional situations involving accidents, injuries
and/or death. 9. Handle emergency/crisis situations in accordance
with policy. 10. Potential risk of exposure to hazards from blood
borne pathogens and infectious diseases. 11. Potential risk of
exposure to hazards from chemicals (toxic and non-toxic, flammable
materials gas and electrical or radiant energy or equipment with or
without moving parts). EDUCATION CERTIFICATION Graduation from a
School of Physical Therapy approved by the Council of Medical
Education of the American Medical Association EXPERIENCE • One year
of experience as a practicing Physical Therapist REQUIREMENTS 1.
Possession of a valid license to practice Physical Therapy issued
by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, Physical
Therapy Board. 2. Possession of current valid CPR/BLS
certification. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: · Material and equipment used:

minimal · Hazardous exposure category: Place an “X” in the
