SummaryThe Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University
is seeking a dynamic and student-focused Graduate Programs Advisor
to support our growing portfolio of graduate business programs. As
a key member of the Graduate Programs team, you'll play an
essential role in advising prospective and current students,
guiding them through every step of their academic journey. This is

Responsibilities:
- Graduate Student Advising: Provide comprehensive academic
advising for incoming, continuing, and inactive (Leave of Absence)
students across MBA, MSA, MSIS, and other graduate programs,
ensuring they stay on track toward graduation.
- Recruitment and Outreach: Actively recruit prospective students
and provide guidance on admission and degree requirements.
Collaborate closely with the FCB Marketing & Communications team to
engage prospective students through CRM systems and social
media.
- Application Review and Coordination: Assist in the review and
evaluation of applications, including degree audits and core
requirement waivers. Coordinate with other Graduate Programs staff
to ensure accurate and timely processing of applications.
- Student Support and Program Development: Make informed
decisions on student advising issues, class selection, and program
policies. Lead efforts in developing and continuously improving
advising resources and programming for new and continuing

Information
- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible,
permanent/probationary position.
- This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not
eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30
p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU
in San Diego.Education and ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from
a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral
sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has
acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown
below may be substituted for the required education on a
year-for-year basis.Possession of the required knowledge and
abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two
years of professional experience in one of the student services
program areas or in a related field; experience should give
evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further
growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted
for one year of the professional experience.Key Qualifications

- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build

- Skilled in analyzing complex situations and determining
effective courses of action, especially in sensitive or nuanced
circumstances.
- Experience advising individuals or groups on complex matters,
using sound judgment and appropriate communication techniques.
- Demonstrated initiative in navigating evolving guidelines,
policies, or unique scenarios.
- Proficient with office software such as Microsoft Office or
Google Workspace, particularly Excel or Google Sheets, and
committed to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive
information.
- Experience working in student services at a college or
university, including roles in admissions, advising, evaluations,
registrar, or related areas preferred.
- Professional background in recruiting prospective students and
effectively communicating academic program requirements and
admissions processes across various platforms (in person, phone,
and email) preferred.
- General knowledge of Student Affairs principles, practices, and
trends, along with familiarity with university policies,
procedures, and academic regulations preferred.Compensation and
BenefitsStarting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed
$5,083 per month.Salary placement is determined by the education,
experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the
position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal
resources.San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package
